C. japonica 'Royal Velvet'
The three tables below show the big winners in (1) japonicas, (2) reticulata and reticulata hybrids and (3) non-retic hybrids in the three ACS Regions. Contrast the differences between the Regions. Why are some varieties big winners in one area, but are not even in the top ten in another area? The universal constants are C. retuculatae 'Frank Houser' and 'Frank Houser Variegated'. C. reticulata 'Pleasant Memories' does well in all three regions as do C. hybrids 'Buttons 'n Bows' and 'Spring Daze'. Three across with low rankings is always a good indication of a winner!
